QUITTING SMOKING HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER.

Fresh Filters were invented and manufactured as a smoking cessation product. The filter is a plastic device placed at the tip of the cigarette filter to act as an additional filter for the tar and chemicals in the tobacco smoke. Less tar means less harm to the lungs. Fresh Filters have been proven scientifically to extract and hold the tar and chemicals inside the plastic filter. Each filter has multiple uses and is disposable and non-recyclable. The filters are highly effective and well liked by smokers that have the desire to quit without having to go “cold turkey.” Smokers using the product have stated that the Fresh Filters do not lessen the flavor or taste of the cigarette tobacco while smoking.

The Fresh Filters brand (previously called Nic-Out) is sold worldwide.

Project Brief:
Client: Product Source International, Inc.

The Client wanted to keep their previous general ideas used for their former brand, Nic-Out, yet create a different look for their new brand, Fresh Filters. They wanted my art direction and marketing assistance to “re-fresh” (no pun intended) the Fresh Filters brand. They asked me to do a new logo design, package design and display box design as well as a website and online marketing items. The client asked me to give the Fresh Filters a healthy look and feel – an impression that the brand was beneficial to the health of the consumer.

My Art Direction:

I was intrigued with the Fresh Filters brand and its clever invention that filters the tar and toxins from a cigarette. As an Art Director, I felt that the brand Nic-Out was too generic and cold with its dark blue color and Marlboro design style. The Client wanted to keep the Marlboro style design since it was recognizable as a cigarette product. However, the Client said I had creative freedom to incorporate the Marlboro style design into the new Fresh Filter package design.

Therefore, I decided to give Fresh Filters a Marlboro design style with a dose of HEALTHY symbolism. Of course, everyone knows plants (except for maybe the tobacco plant) are generally a symbol of health and clean air. Thus, I chose a color scheme of green and blue and symbolisms of a plant and a blue sky background.
